Tourism revenue generated by S /. 280 million at Easter in Peru


The growth of domestic tourism will be supported mainly by eight regions, which concentrated 62.4% of total arrivals into the country.

Lima. Domestic tourism will generate 280.4 million suns in Holy Week and mobilize around 4.423 million tourists from around the country reported the Center for Business Research (CIE) of the National Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturing and Service (Perucámaras).


He said the domestic tourist traffic to be generated at Easter represents a growth of 6 percent over last year.

He explained that tourism within the country mean, 45.2 percent of the national total and the largest mobilization of domestic tourists to boost the economy, generating progress and work in a decentralized manner in the regions.

The regions that concentrate as many tourists are Arequipa (10.4%), La Libertad (9%), Ancash (8.1%) and Junin (8%). Also listed Ica (7.7%), Cusco (6.3%), Piura (6.2%) and San Martin (5.9%).

Similarly, regions that this year would be more growth in tourist arrivals are Loreto (30.3%), Apurimac (15.5%), Ayacucho (15.3%), Ucayali (14.6%) and Ancash (12.8%).

Perucámaras recalled that according to the National vacationer Profile 2010, prepared by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for export and tourism, 51 percent of domestic tourists staying at hotels and hostels.
